  This reminds me of a cartoon, done by Tex Avery if I remember correctly, about a little plane that upsets it's father (a bomber) by upgrading from props to jets, then saves the father using the speed and power of his jets. Anyone else remember this one? There was a similar one with a family of taxi cabs, and the son disappoints the father when it becomes a hot-rod, then saves the father from being struck by a train.
